The 2021er Müller-Thurgau (the reference to the name is, as usual for this Estate, only provided on the back label) with lot number L. 21MTH is a bone-dry wine made from fruit harvested on un-grafted vines in a steep part of the Winninger Domgarten. It was fermented and aged on its gross and fine lees in a mix of oak and stainless-steel tank without any intervention for 15 months before being bottled unfiltered and with minimal SO2 added (total SO2 is 20 mg/l). It initially offers a beautifully smoky, restrained, and herbal nose but quickly shows more aromatic scents of almond cream, ginger spices, minty herbs, rose petals, acacia, apple, and violet. The wine is fine, light, and linear on the palate, with notes of lime and
citrus peel. The finish is very taut and lively, with tartness and bitterness still quite marked at this stage. This energetic, racy Müller-Thurgau is very impressive, but will need another year or two to integrate its tension. 2024-2028
