Hannes Bergdoll runs his biodynamic winery near Landau. LAU stands for calm, for quiet and perhaps also for Landau. Anyway this is a very naturally made grauburgunder 'orange' or as the Italians say, 'ramato'.
Made by pressing 50% percent of the grapes directly and macerating the other half of the grauburgunder for 10 days in 500 liter barrels. Pale copper-colored, grayish and slightly tile red. Juicy in flavor, slightly lactic and with good " grip ". Friendly but not too easygoing. Enough fine bitters for texture. Real LAU; calm - not screaming for attention - biodynamic liter bottle of wine.
