Philipp Jaillet
Philippe Jaillet - The Burgundian Soul of the Pfalz
Philippe Jaillet is the name to memorise if you like to sip Burgundy! This young German (!?) winemaker who is only 25 years old has been making wine since as early as 2018. He comes from the Pfalz, makes his wine in Ruppertsberg but his heart and soul are in Burgundy.
On just under 3 hectares in Ruppertsberg, in Haardt and near Deidesheim, he works exclusively with plant material from Burgundy and ages his wines exclusively in French oak from François Frère. The result? Class wines with a French twist- precise, pure and in the process an incredibly beautiful use of oak. Jaillet proves that top wines from the Pfalz can not only be great, but also approach the quality of the Côte de Nuits.
For lovers of German wine with Burgundian appeal, Philippe Jaillet is a name to remember. Now listed at Wijnhuis.Amsterdam.
