Kusterer

Centuries-old tradition, innovative finesse

Located in the medieval town centre of Esslingen (Württemberg) and with a four-storey “gravity cellar”, Weingut Kusterer is a family business that builds on a wine tradition dating back over 1,200 years. With around 6 hectares of vineyards and an annual production of 40,000 bottles from grapes grown on no fewer than 50 separate plots, Weingut Kusterer combines tradition with modern viticulture and artisanal attention to detail.

Max Kusterer
After completing his training in Geisenheim, Max gained practical experience at renowned wineries, developing a keen sense for wines in the style of the “Burgundersorten”.

“And if we're talking about big talents, the Chardonnay from Maximilian Kusterer can't go unmentioned.” Christoph Raffelt in Trink Magazine

In 2020, he officially took over the reins of the family business. Max experiments with both classic and modern techniques — for example, by using a gravity cellar: grapes are transported into the cellar by gravity, without pumps. Under his leadership, the estate is increasingly focusing on quality wines from top vineyards — with an emphasis on finesse, complexity and expression, especially in the ‘Burgundy style’.
