WEINGUT AM SCHLIPF - SCHNEIDER | HAUS GUPI
The roots of the winemaking family in Weil am Rhein go back to 1465. With the purchase of the estate in 1892, below the Schlipf vineyards, Johannes Schneider laid the foundation for today's winery. Since then, generations have worked together with the same passion, cultivating the unique vineyards on the Tüllinger Berg. Since the beginning, our focus has been on fully fermented wines and the traditional and local grape varieties, the Pinot family and the Gutedel (chasselas).
After Johann, Eugen and Hans Schneider, the parents Susanne Hagin-Schneider and Claus Schneider continued the business from the 1980s onwards. Christoph Schneider still cultivate the vineyards of the grandparents and used the old arched cellar. Together with his brother he made the wines from the Schlipf and Tüllinger Berg famous nationwide.
Over time, the winery has grown and today Weingut am Schlipf cultivate grapes on nearly 15 hectares of four spectacular vineyards in two municipalities spread over more than 70 plots on the Tüllinger Berg. Since 2017 Johannes and Christoph Schneider, are the 6th generation to be responsible for the farm and enthusiastically continue the family's long winemaking tradition.
With a clear focus on traditional and historically relevant grape varieties, we cultivate only the locally relevant GUtedel and PInot varieties. We manage our vineyards sustainably, hand-picking the grapes and crafting our wines with very little intervention. With HAUS GUPI, we create a space to experiment and test the limits of viticulture, always with the goal of the highest quality in mind. HAUS GUPI wines are always vinified and bottled without the addition of sulfur.
Low alcohol, aromatic precision and a palatable finish make each GUPI wine a typical "Vin de Soif".
